Amy Smart, an American actress and former model. The modeling career she began with was in Italy, where she was raised before being born in California. In 1996 she made her first appearance as a actress in the TV movie Her Costly Affair. Her fight to secure the role for Starship Troopers, a film which featured only minor characters, was a gruelling battle. It was difficult for her to transition to acting because models were not considered as good actors, and they usually got smaller roles. Yet, somehow Amy did not give up and stepped into more prestigious roles. It all started with the TV series The 70s and the film Varsity Blues. After a few years Amy made the jump to more prominent roles. She starred in the romance film Just Friends alongside Ryan Reynolds. Amy was recognized after more than 10 years working. Then she went on to work in some of the biggest movies, including the Crank series starring Jason Statham as well as Shameless with Jason Statham, in which she played a recognizable character.
