Anna Paquin

Anna Paquin (born Winnipeg, raised in Wellington) is a Canadian actress. Born in Winnipeg and born in Wellington Paquin was able to make her acting debut portraying Flora McGrath in the romantic drama film The Piano for which she received the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress aged 11 years old, making her the second-youngest winner to win an award within Oscar history. Anna Paquin spelled out Anna Helene Paquin was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada on July 24,1982. She is a Canadian-born actress from New Zealand. In 1993, she received her first Academy Award at age 11 to play the inquisitive, chatty child of Holly Hunter who played the leading role. She won the role of Flora McGrath the daughter of the mute Scottish pianist, who in the middle of 19th century, moves back to New Zealand for an arranged marriage when she responded to an open audition call at the age of nine. She was old, and had no prior experience in acting. In her teens her family relocated from New Zealand to United States. Paquin played the lead role in the film Fly Away Home in 1996 as well as a brief appearance in the film as Jane Eyre when she was just a young child. Paquin was a part-time actress in the 1997 TV movie version of Carson McCullers' novel The Member of the Wedding. The actress also played the queen of Spain in Steven Spielberg's Amistad (2007). She played teenagers on Hurlyburly (1998), She's All That (2000) and A Walk on the Moon (2000). The actress played the role of a groupie Polexia Aphrodisa in Almost Famous (2000).
